Emergency Management
"Disaster mitigation... increases the self reliance of people
who are at risk - in other words, it is empowering."

OpenCARE
The OpenCARE project has its origins in the 2004 South Asian Tsunami disaster.
Despite the tremendous rescue effort, there were problems with the coordination
and dissemination of information. Incompatible formats, lack of local language
capabilities, delays in releasing information - especially to the media, and
even victim identification. The OpenCARE project seeks to create an information
infrastructure to address the bulk of the problems that have been experienced.
Here at the Open ISES Project, we are proud to be working with them in achieving this goal. We are looking at the Tickets CAD program as well as the Agency Personnel and Training Database, and how those applications can be incorporated into their system.
